The Pazo of Villarei vineyards extend along the Salnés Valley, in the heart of the D.O. Rias Baixas.
The total extension of the vineyards is 81 hectares. The vines are less than 20 years old, and divided in various plots located between the estuaries of Arosa and Pontevedra, on the banks or the River Umia, in order to maximize the maturation. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 100 and 300 m above sea level. An ideal micro-climate is created with a temperate and humid climate, combined with shallow and sandy soils.
Mild all year-round, particularly in summer. Mild temperatures in the summer allow the grapes to ripen slowly, thus maintaining all the aromas of the varieties for producing fresh fruity wines.
The banks of the River Umia provide a shallow and sandy soil, as well as a mild and humid Atlantic climate, which helps the maturation of the variety that Albariño grape used in making the single varietal wines.
