Distillate, a tradition of centuries

The latin word orujo comes from ‘involucrum’ – wrapper, and from it derived to ‘volucrum’ before being converted to ́orujo ́ because of linguistic name imitates distilling of this mythical liquor, so linked to Galicia since ancient times. Distillation of the orujo is as old as our Albariño wines, it dates back to Celtic times where legend intermingle. On the slopes of Val de O Salnes, Pazo de Villarei keeps alive Celtic tradition of cultivating Albariño grape, which gives strength to the 52o, the most powerful and strong liquor from the winery.
